My daughter aged 13 at the time was asked to be bridesmaid. We had to pay for her dress and accessories ourselves, we had to pay for her flowers and then when it was the reception, she was only invited to the dancing after the dinner...around 10 pm at night. Her dad had been roped into serving at the dinner, everyone was asking where our daughter was...sitting at home waiting for a phone call to say that I could drive her out for the dance. She waited in her dress until 11pm and I finally said I thought it wasnt going to happen and maybe she should change. I was so mad and at the same time sad for my daughter....never again. They used her for the pictures and that was it. Khall weddings...dont talk about them please!

Watchtower Blood Component/Fraction Deception
by jwfacts inthe watchtower attempts to create a semblance of logic to its allowance of blood fractions by presenting the concept that blood consists of four primary "components".
use of these components are unchristian.
these components can be broken into "fractions", which are acceptable to use.

I agree with jedi master, I could not allow someone elses conscience to tell me what they think God accepts or does not accept. My conscience stands before God not a few old men who have inherited a belief system from a rambling drunk (rutherford). I now know that a symbol for the sanctity of life can never become more important than life itself. So my viewpoint on blood, fractions etc has reversed completely.
Do the jws who take fractions know it is donated blood that has been stored, then broken down? I am sure many think it is somehow manmade stuff that they get.
After visiting my friend in hospital today who also is an exjw I was relieved to see that she has the same viewpoint...she is recovering from a very long operation....no pressure was put on her to have blood...she can decide for herself. She said how relieved she was not to be a jw anymore and have to face the pressure from a hospital liason rep.

food shortages
by chicken little inany of you been told by the jws that the current food crisis is fulfillment of the revelation prophecy of the horsemen?
they are really talking about it now and how a days wage is worth nothing.
you heard similar things?.

Its true I was around then and in the org, I was a teenager and scared stiff of the riders on the horses and all that it meant. I just replied to my friend that food shortages have always been a problem for those without food....its just now affecting those who always have had an abundance of cheap food. World War II was followed by shortages much worse that today...she agreed, but felt our time now was fulfillment of revelation

How do we know that humans have been around for more than 6000 years?
by inkling inafter a conversation with my dad last night, i realized that it is fairly.
easy for jws to weasel out of issues involving the fossil record because.
a) the wt has very little to say on the subject and b) witnesses are.

I recently read the book mentioned by sir82 it was Guns germs and steel and was by Jared Diamond and it was an eyeopener. I often wondered about the hunter gatherer lifestyle of the aborigines in Australia....other areas had developed far more complicated farming technics, yet the aborigines continued with the same lifestyle until the continent was "discovered by europeans". They appear to have lived in isolation for 40,000 years.
The flood account puts mankind and its record of activity to about 4,000 years....so how did they get to Australia? They did not use boats....if they did they forgot how to build them again...odd. The story of the tower of babel is told to explain the language spread and movement of mankind...again they were building a tower! What happened when they moved away...they forgot everything they had learned and went back to gathering herbs and hunting? Odd.
The book offers a very good explaination for why some peoples flourished and became technical and others made do with what they had at hand as they had no other choices. It was not a matter of intelligence as some try to bring into the discussion...read the book.

hi newbie to this great place
by freespirit67 insorry this has turned out longer than i thought.anyway i lived the life of a single mother fell away from the organisation, and eventually met a (worldly) guy who is the most loving guy i have ever met,my best friend, lover and soulmate.i was disfellowshipped 4 months ago because we live with each other and plan to get married in september, unacceptable to the society hence my disfellowshipping.it has broke my mum and dads heart and im so so sorry for this,i love them so much, but no longer want or believe in the jw beliefs.
i still believe in god but dont know where im bound as regards my faith,i really do want to have something.
apart from my mum and dad and the shunning arrangement im so happy, the happiest i have ever been in years, and my 2 youngest ones are happy as well..my eldest daughter is 16 and planning on getting baptised in july which is tearing me apart, she is so like me,but is being brainwashed by a certain crowd of witnesses, need i say anymore...my eldest son who is 18 isnt in the truth and feels the same way i do... anyway thanks for this forum and hope to hear from likeminded friends soon.

Hello to you ,
I left the wt org after 45 years in (from age 3). I too am happier than ever in my whole life...so I wish you continued happiness and love in your life.
The witness stuff takes time to esponge.....wash it away gently, bit by bit. Your being happy is the only way to make an impact on your family...they are so deeply in that nothing you say will have any effect..but living your life and being happy does seep into their subconscience..I know from experience.
Love and hugs

I have posted before and mentioned the impact of the movie over her in scandanavia, it might be of interest to you guys to think about presenting the movie in a positive light to any who you know who are still in. Explain that the movie is very true to the way witnesses live and is not condemning. It may just be what will get many young ones to go and see it.
